Hints for the Heterosexual Man When Meeting A Gay Man

Found this print out in my collection of things.   Though it might bring a smile so I added it.

1.  So not run screaming from the room.  This is rude!

2.  If you must back away, do so slowly, and with discretion.

3.  Do not asusme he is attracted to you.

4.  Do not assume he is not attracted to you.

5.  Do not assume you are not attracted to him.

6.  Do not expect him to be as excited about meeting a      heterosexual as you may be about meeting gay.  (He was probably raised with them.)

7.  Do not immediately start talking about your girlfriend or wife in order to make it clear that you are straight.  He probably already knows.

8.  Do not invite him someplace where there will be straight men unless ou tell him in advance.  He may not want to be with them.

9.  Do not ask him how he got this way.  Instead, ask yourself how you got THAT way.

10.  Do not assume that he is dying to talk about being gay.

11.  Do not expect him to refrain from talking about being gay.

12.  Do not trivialize his experience by assuming it is a bedroom issue only.  He is gay  24 hours a day.

13.  Do not assume that because he's gay he wants to be treated like a woman.

14.  Do not assume that his heart will leap with joy if you touch his arm (condescendingly?.......flirtatiously?.......power-testingly?).  That makes him angry.
